"Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and will not be afraid; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and he has become my salvation."

As you probably know, I have two dogs, Chicken and Biscuit. Chicken is a little brown dachshund who is 8 years old. Biscuit is a very energetic black and brown rat terrier who is 6 years old. On Saturday we made the hard decision to find Biscuit a new home. There were a number of different reasons for that desicion, but in general, we just felt that we were not the right family for her. Later that day Daddy got a phone call from a family who wanted to come see Biscuit. After we unanimously decided that they were the right family for her, the family took her. I cannot say there were not many tears shed that night, but God gave me peace through the storm.

I highly recommend that you listen to the song "Praise You In This Storm" by Casting Crowns.
Here are the lyrics.

"I was sure by now
God You would have reached down
And wiped our tears away
Stepped in and saved the day
But once again, I say “Amen”, and it's still raining

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I'm with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away

Chorus:
I'll praise You in this storm
And I will lift my hands
For You are who You are
No matter where I am
Every tear I've cried
You hold in Your hand
You never left my side
And though my heart is torn
I will praise You in this storm

I remember when
I stumbled in the wind
You heard my cry
You raised me up again
My strength is almost gone
How can I carry on
If I can't find You

As the thunder rolls
I barely hear You whisper through the rain
“I'm with you”
And as Your mercy falls
I raise my hands and praise the God who gives
And takes away
Chorus:
I lift my eyes unto the hills
Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the Lord
The maker of Heaven and Earth

KDBug,
This is a very sweet post. I admire the way you've matured through this difficult process.

I love you.

Ah! Love this song too. Giving up something/someone you love is always hard. <3

It is always very difficult to part ways with pets, but I am glad to hear that the Lord is giving you His peace. It is also a great blessing that Biscuit is with a good family. I am reminded of this verse of "Be Still My Soul":

Be still, my soul: when dearest friends (or pets in this case) depart, And all is darkened in the vale of tears,
Then shalt thou better know His love, His heart,
Who comes to soothe thy sorrow and thy fears.
Be still, my soul: thy Jesus can repay
From His own fullness all He takes away.

It sounds like God is doing exactly that for you... and it is a joy to see you taking hold of these truths about who He is in the midst of difficult circumstances.

God bless,
Daniel Osborne
